Attribution Statement

Anime Wordle is an independent fan project. While the site may display advertisements to cover hosting and development costs, it does not sell, license, or redistribute anime content — there are no paid tiers, no merchandise, and no commercial exploitation of the underlying works. All anime titles, logos, character artwork, posters, episode information, and related media referenced on this site remain the intellectual property of their respective copyright holders — including but not limited to the original anime studios, production committees, publishers, and licensors.

The use of such materials on Anime Wordle is for the limited purpose of gameplay and identification, not for resale or redistribution. No claim of ownership is made by Anime Wordle or lemmih-dev over any of the underlying copyrighted works.

Fair Use Rationale

We believe our use of copyrighted anime imagery falls within the bounds of fair use as articulated in Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act and analogous doctrines in other jurisdictions:

• Transformative purpose: Images are not redistributed as entertainment. They are used as puzzle clues in a guessing game — the game's purpose is materially different from the original work's purpose of storytelling.
• Limited nature: Character images are shown at reduced resolution and partially obscured. Posters are shown pixelated or cropped. We do not host episode video, full-resolution reference images, or plot summaries.
• Non-substitutive: The game does not replace or compete with any official anime work. A player cannot watch the anime, read the manga, or otherwise consume the underlying work through Anime Wordle.
• Minimally commercial: Any advertising revenue serves only to cover hosting and development costs. The site does not sell merchandise, subscriptions, premium access, or any anime-related product, and all gameplay remains free.

Data Sources

Anime metadata (titles, genres, studios, episode counts, MAL scores, popularity rankings) is sourced from MyAnimeList's publicly available data. Character names and poster imagery originate from MAL's public pages. We cache this data locally for performance and gameplay determinism; we do not re-host full MAL content.

Takedown Requests

If you are a copyright holder and believe that a specific image, title, or other material on Anime Wordle exceeds fair use, we will remove the identified material promptly. Please email developer.sercaksoy@gmail.com with:

• Your identity and affiliation with the copyrighted work.
• The specific URL(s) or file(s) containing the material in question.
• The underlying copyrighted work being referenced.
• A good-faith statement that the use is not authorized.

We aim to respond within five business days.
